Welded steel is a newer method having to do with the tubing and the development of appropriate torch power in the time since bikes started being built. There are lots of different ways to build bikes, especially when it comes to carbon. More research and writing ahead on that. Plus, I have a friend who actually deals with this stuff and getting bikes built at factories, including the really high end stuff.
